is designed to meet the needs of dual diagnosed people, that share addictive substance problems as well as having been diagnosed with psychiatric disorders. We offer a peer on peer ran support group that allows members to share their experiences in a environment with freedom of their feelings. Our group is ran by Shades of Grey members and yet we still have the support of professional assistance (help you with orientation) from the Pederson-Krag Center in Wyandanch New York (where our meetings will be held).
Please take note that there is no charge or need to register to attend our meetings.
The goal of this group is to provide one another with peer support and supervision in the context of confidential case presentation.
We will gather together to help ourselves recover from our addictions and mental problems. We'll share our experiences to help ourselves become honest, open-minded and more willing to understand ourselves. Sharing helps all of us to remember how it was and how we arrived at where we are today.
We'll also discuss the problems and benefits associated with psychiatric medication as well as other issues crucial to mental health, thus we recognize that for many, having addiction and mental disorders represents dual problems in recovery.

Please keep in mind, that we at Shades of Grey will not force any kind of belief upon you at our weekly meetings. We all develop at our own pace, and we all get out of our meetings what fits us the best. This is not a 12 step program and we will never make you feel like there are restraints on you when it comes to your recovery. As well, we will also repect your Dual Diagnosis Steps for your recovery. In other words all are welcomed and we all will be repected as their methods of recovery dictates.
